The Muse Recommendations

Opportunity

By understanding their users’ needs, The Muse could increase engagement by easily recommending additional content that was relevant to the readers.

Problem

Most people discovered The Muse via search and read one of their many articles. However, those readers did not continue to spend time on the site, or engage with other types of content.

Solution

To improve recirculation on the article pages, I designed a series of cards that could be mixed in relevant ways on the content pages. These cards were for articles, coaching, community topics, and company profile pages. They were placed directly under the article in their own section with no more than three options to help avoid information overload. Additionally, a call to action for onboarding could be included if the reader was a new user.

Result

With user testing we discovered that there was an increased understanding of what The Muse offered. Additionally, engagement increased.
