Opportunity
The Muse identified a need in the market and they wanted to create a community for job seekers. The new product would be a platform to post questions, find answers, and share work-related experiences.
Problem
This was going to be a new product and we needed to create an MVP to validate it. With validation, it was going to be a large build. So, we needed a plan to create the platform incrementally from the start.
Solution
I was the lead designer for the MVP which was a basic career Q&A platform. While working with the PM, we went through a series of user interviews and working sessions to define the full product and decided on key features that would make the platform successful. Taking into account our ideal user flows, I designed modular components, created a more consistent UI, and included unique content featuring interviews and resources.
Result
Within a week of launching the MVP, we exceeded our engagement goal. New participants joined daily. With its initial success, we went through a planning process to turn Muse Discussions into a full community. This included a new member profile, improved accounts, and intuitive filtering.
